More and more events are turning to live drawing not just as documentation, but as an experience in its own right. Whether it’s a community celebration, school festival, arts showcase or public consultation — having a live illustrator on site can create real-time engagement, spark conversations, and capture the energy of the moment.

Live drawing events are highly flexible. A visual scribe might work on a large-scale mural during a town celebration, inviting members of the public to contribute their own thoughts and stories. At a school event, they might draw an illustrated timeline of the day. In an arts festival, they may sketch performances as they happen, turning sound and movement into vibrant line and colour.

These illustrations do more than decorate — they build pride, deepen participation, and create a unique visual legacy of your event.

Commissioners have used live drawing to:

  • Visualise public input at consultation stalls

  • Mark anniversaries or milestones

  • Spark curiosity during awareness-raising campaigns

  • Add creativity to education or youth events
